Celebrity Crush

I wasn't a big Timothy Olyphant fan to start with. He was just another actor. But then I got into the FX show Justified AND Amazon had a mad sale on the complete series DVD box set of Deadwood, both of which star Mr. Olyphant.

and well... I was helpless. How do you not immediately develop the biggest celebrity crush ever on him? Seriously, try not to. You can't.

Google image search the crap out of him. It will make you melt.

Keeping Promises: Days 17-30

Day 17: Your thoughts on Ugg boots.
Boots, regardless of brand, are acceptable and can be attractive when they are worn practically and with a coordinating outfit.

Day 18: Do you drink soda more often than milk?
Absolutely, yes. I used to drink Dr. Pepper as if I needed it to live. I have since switched to Diet Coke. I anticipate a soda drinking related disease in my future.

Day 19: The initials of your crush(es).
I can say with confidence that I do not have a crush on anyone at the moment.

Day 20: Do you wear glasses? If so, what are they for?
Yes, they are for seeing. I am near-sighted (myopia).

Day 21: Your favorite subject to study.
Cultural studies.

Day 22: Do you play a sport? Tell us about it. If not, talk about a different
hobby you may have.
I played water polo and was on the swim team in high school. I then became fat and lazy and currently list reading blogs and thinking about doing great things but never doing them as my hobbies. I really miss water polo and am constantly challenged by the fact that I have seriously become so out of shape that I cannot bear to even try to get back in the water. It is a vicious circle that keeps me fat. I need to change.

Day 23: Your opinions on Lady Gaga.

Day 24: Tell us about the last movie you saw in theaters.
I saw TRON: Legacy in 3-d with my coworkers before I left for home and later London. I thought the film was quite entertaining and the lead actor was attractive. I spent a lot of the movie negotiating the fact that I was wearing two pairs of glasses.

Day 25: Tell us about the last book you read (for leisure or for school).
I read Love is a Mixtape a while back and am currently reading The Dharma Bums.

Day 26: Name one place you would love to visit one day.
I'd really like to visit the Survivor Tree in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ideally this will be one stop on a long cross country road trip with a bitchin soundtrack. Let's do this friends.

Day 27: List your three favorite girls names, three favorite boys names, and your three favorite names for a pet.
I've always fancied the name Aubrey for a girl and haven't really contemplated naming a girl child anything other than that (take notes future husband). For boys I have always liked Aiden (but I think I'd have to marry and Irishman for it to make sense) and Anze (but that is a little out there). I also love the name Corey.
I think pets earn names.

Day 28: Your first celebrity crush.
I am not entirely sure who was first but I did love Leonardo DiCaprio after Titanic came out.

Day 29: Your opinions on the television show Glee
I think there should be a Mike Chang and Brittany S. Pierce spin off called Dance Club.
Game changer right there.

Day 30: Take a picture of yourself right now and post it, or post the most recent picture you can find.
The first is a really great picture of me (thanks Heather) and the second is how I think I look most of the time - big fat cheeks.

**EDIT**
For Day 27, I would also like to add that I like the name Luke for boys. I am not, however, particularly interested in the religious nature of this name.

Celebrity Playlist

iTunes does these nifty little celebrity playlists where the rich and famous get to make a list of their favorite songs and say why and then you can buy the songs so you feel closer to them. I look at these occasionally and judge celebs on their musical taste/maturity... so in the spirit of open communication, here is what I would put (at least right now) on my celebrity playlist if I were rich/famous and iTunes loved me enough (in no particular order):

  • "Junior Kickstart" - The Go! Team - This makes me feel like I can do anything, ever.
  • "Hold On You" - Ponderosa: They have a classic sound that can melt into your soul. They've totally tangled their way into my heart.
  • "Don't Move" - Butch Walker: It is impossible to pick just one song by Butch as my favorite, but this one is particularly meaningful and I just love his music to death. Listen to all of it.
  • "Existentialism on Prom Night" - Straylight Run: More often than not I feel like I would "kill for this just a little bit"
  • "Tech Romance" - Her Space Holiday: Frequently the line "just another film that won't get made" is how my relationships go... and it is a beautiful void.
  • "Come Pick Me Up" - Ryan Adams: Boy has got soul and I love the sentiment of this song.
  • "Red Right Ankle" - The Decemberists: I'd love it if Colin Meloy would write and sing a biographical song about my life. The language would be elegant and the mood, dark yet happy.
  • "Badfish" - Sublime: I feel like this is my criteria for boys: Tell me, are you a badfish too?
  • "Simple Man" - Lynyrd Skynyrd: Southern boys singing all sorts of truth; you cannot go wrong if you follow this advice.
  • "All My Mistakes" - The Avett Brothers: I think I'd like this to play at my wedding or some romantic moment with a man that I love.
  • "Good Year for the Roses" - Elvis Costello: I had a hard time picking which Elvis Costello song to put on this list, but I really like this one because it is soft and delicate.
  • "Okay I believe you but my tommy gun don't" - Brand New: There is a reason my blog is named after this song. "We are never alone"
  • "A Favor House Atlantic" - Coheed & Cambria: I just love to blast this and sing and dance around. Probs not their intention, but whatev.
  • "Whatever You Like" - T.I.: I've said multiple times that I want to have a little recording of this in my pocket to play for people when they ask me questions: "you can have whatever you like"
  • "What Are They Doing In Heaven Today" - Washington Phillips: I have an old recording of this that I rediscovered thanks to the movie Elizabethtown and it just makes me happy.
  • "Tiny Vessels" - Death Cab for Cutie: This reminds me of Jordan and all the reasons why it didn't work and how it is better that way. Lost love, awww.

I can think of like 1000 other songs that I love and would want people to know that I love them. BUT since I can't go on forever and most people don't actually care I will stop here.

Oh My God Bless America

So you know how they often ask famous people which actor or actress would play them in a bio-picture. I think I can say with complete confidence that if sex did not matter (like with Cate Blanchett as Dylan in I'm Not There) I would chose Mandy Patinkin to play me. The reasons are as follows: a. INIGO MONTOYA b. Criminal Minds c. Dead Like Me d. his voice e. swagga f. totally looks like me, obvs.

Happy 4th of July! Go America!

And finally, here is some weird shit and more reasons to hate pregnancy: WTF!

Totally Looks Like

So when I first saw this ad (below) for the new Dane Cook tour I thought, "why is Tom Brady on the poster?" I am not sure what this means for either of them... but I am quite confident that it is not good.

Ri-God-Damn-Diculous

And now for an ode to my new favorite ridiculous person: Lady GaGa

Missy Piggy Cuts The Fat

While browsing the interwebs I came across this People Magazine Online article that says Miss Piggy, of Muppets fame, has lost weight.

I would like her diet secrets.
